VAC oil capacity

Hey guys......quick question. The owners manual says it hold 5 quarts with the oil filter. It hold 4 courts without, again according to the book. The dip stick I have over time has been altered and with 5 quarts its over the top mark. I know someone here will know the answer. Thanks in advance.

The filter system is by-pass type without a check valve to keep it from draining back to the crankcase when the engine is not running. The filter element actually is saturated with something less than a quart when the engine is running. I generally fill 4.5 qts on an oil change but 1/2 qt either way isn't going to make any difference.

I would run it and then let it sit awhile and make a new mark. Nick

thanks for the replies everyone, I went ahead and put the 5 quarts in it. I did run it a while and let it sit, checked it again and made a new mark. I ran it all day today pulling a rake and it did fine. Thanks again for the quick replies.
