There is a VAC in my area sn VAC5651450. It has a wide front, eagle hitch, with 10x38 rear tires which are worthless. It is running but the front grill is bad and the two pieces of sheet metal on the sides covering the battery are missing. Otherwise it looks pretty straight. Two questions, what year is it and is it worth much more than junk price? I have pictures but not sure I can post them with this message. Thanks for your help in advance

Yes It I guess it should have been 28". I just put down what the owner said, without really thinking about it, but it did appear to be quite tall.

I recently restored a VAC of this vintage and really enjoy it now -- I use it just about every day. You should be able to find the missing sheet metal, etc. Do consider restoring it because these tractors are some of the best examples of agricultural machinery over the past century and they should be preserved for future generations.

I would like to restore it but I already have an S and I live in a residential area with not enough room for anoher tractor. When I suggested it might not bring much more than junk prices he was quite positive about selling to some one who would restore it or use it as it is, so hopefully it stays in circulation.

Just a thought, but the VAC would be easier to haul, and would be capable of almost everything a pre-53' S-series tractor is capable of. Also, parts are slightly easier to find for the VAC.

Dont allow him to sell it for junk. If its that good of shape, keep it for someone that would use it or restore it. Its not too hard to find sheetmetal tinwork.
I have seen alot of ugly used tractors still on farms working like brand new.

Problem is being a late model with a trashed grill and rims and needing side panels you a spend more replacing those than buying the tractor. I'd offer him $500.
