Valtra Valmet 900?

Can anyone tell me anything about these tractors? I know Agco owns
them and brought them here for a few years and then discontinued
them. Parts still available? Been told they are thru Cat dealers. We’re
these the Brazilian made ones? Any idea how they held up? Looking
at one, cab ac 4wd quicke x4 loader that appears to be newer but no
bucket or anything else, just the skid steer attach, tires look good,
3500 hrs, guys asking $18,900. Seems like a lot of tractor for the
money if they were decent to start with and are still serviceable.
Thanks

Be careful with the “through Cat dealers” perspective. As Cat sold off Challenger to AGCO, most owners of Cat dealers signed sales and service agreements with AGCO to continue supporting Challenger products from AGCO. Officially, this is very separate from their agreement and efforts with Caterpillar.

Some dealers also took on other lines of equipment from AGCO, that could have included Valtra. But I’d think, given that AGCO no longer sells that product here, they’ll struggle to provide decent support.

I’ve got 2 cat dealers near me, both are Wayne supply. One of hyphen use to deal quite a bit in ag machinery, the other one not so much. I’m going to call both of them today and see if they can tell me much.

Hmmmm?? Valmet 900 right in the post title!! Sorry,
can’t help you with any of your concerns. If you don’t
get much response here I would suggest posting this
on the New AgTalk, Machinery Talk forum, see link.

Great tractors. Made in Finland. I have an 800 which is 80 horsepower. 3000 trouble free hours, strong hydraulics and comfortable cab. Only thing I’ve done is change oil and filters and a/c compressor. I bleed green and yellow but I really like my Valtra. Would buy another in a heartbeat.

Casey,
Livingston Machinery in Chickasha Oklahoma sold quite a few Valtra's before the line was pulled from the North American market. They'd be a good source for support.

Nobody was buying them.

In the USA if it ain't green or red, nobody wants to take a chance on it. Most own Deere, next is CaseIH, everyone else is fighting over the scraps.
I have a Valtra 900 and love it, my understanding why they were pulled from the USA market, Agco bought them for the SISU diesel, so they could use in the Massey tractors. My Valtra 900 4wd with a loader and after 4200+ hours it now needs a clutch, this is the first major thing for this tractor. I have kept the oil and filters changed and did have to put AC idler pulleys on it a few years ago. They are GREAT tractors.

My brothers and dad have them and love them. Very heavy built and as good as any JD as far as we are concerned.
