How much is a good 1 owner 4010 worth, the PTO is not working, needs paint, sheet metal is good, tires are good, has been overhauled but don't know how many hours are on it now. I have a 1020 gas that I was wanting to trade for 4010 or 4020. Would a 1967 4020 be that much better tractor than the 4010 because I think I can trade for the 4020. Please let me know what you think and thanks again.

The PTO (if you plan on using it much)would be reason enough to go on up the the twenty series.Has the 4010 injection pump been upgraded to the speed advance timing kit? Not really enough information to give you a good answer like how are you going to use the tractor. How are each equipped ,etc? All things being equal, there is some, but not a whole lot of difference between the two models.

The value of an older tractor is based on condition. That value can be $40 per H.P. [salvage]to three times that amount.Anytime you buy one with existing problems it will cost more than you estimate. The 4020s are a classic with around 169,000 made. They can be 45yrs.old so most have had work done its just when and where. Many good ones are out there just do your homework.Really your question is a little too vague to give a better answer.

Personally, I love my 4010. There are some preventive items to watch for on the 4010 over the 4020 (e.g. keeping the PTO shaft bolts tight) but otherwise, the 4010 is an excellent model as well.

Both models are easy to service and parts are readily available.
