Value questions

A friend is wanting to thin his herd and sell a few tractors for some badly needed barn space. These two are the Deere's he's thinking about selling. Any ideas on value would be greatly appreciated.

1 is a John Deere 1931 GP big bore is what he he calls it. Engine is ceased up, no carb, and needs at least 1 rear tire. He does have the magneto for it kept inside and all holes plugged on the tractor to keep water from getting in. Sheet metal is decent. He bought many years ago (20 or more) but only ever did the front wheels. Has PTO and extension.

2 a John Deere 1941 B. Runs but burns a little oil. Starts fairly easily, rear tires like new, fronts fair, hand start. Kerosene tank is rusted through. PTO works. Sheet metal is pretty good.

I've driven the B and seen the GP in person. If any more info is needed I'm over there quite often and can look at things.

How much of a challenge do you want? The B is an easy project with parts quite easy to find. The GP will require more effort to bring back to life but is also the more valuable tractor in the end. Prices really depend on the area you live in. A run of the mill B like that I would say $1000 the GP $1500. A carburetor for the GP will cost $500 and what magneto does he have for it?

Does he have the missing part for the air cleaner on the GP ?

That B does appear to have like new tires on it. I would agree with the price figures the other fellow gave. But prices are all over the map and seems like mostly down anymore.

He says the magneto is a Wico and does not have the air cleaner for it.

well first thing I noticed on the gp is that is has a rare beaner front axle on it.
without doing some research in my library cant confirm if its a genuine beaner tractor
or not but it does give it a lot more potential to restore it rather than wreck it.
It looks like factory front round spokes on the front but cant tell if the rears are rounds
or flat cut offs.
The B sure has nice rear rubber.
good first tractor for someone looking for a winter project.
I would say in my area that both tractors would be equal value.
of course the B would be the quickest one to get running.
1000 to 1500 each.
