Anybody have any idea what a 1992 2wd Ford 4830 with a Bushhog QT loader would be worth?? Rear tires(16.9-30's) are new, tach shows about 1500 hours but isn't working, I'm guessing the tractor has about 3000 hours on it, it doesn't smoke or use oil, has 2 remotes, and the only leaks are a little at the remotes and the power steering cylinder leaks a little. The tractor has set out, so it's not the prettiest, but it's not a complete rust bucket either. Runs, shifts, and operates good. Just has ROPS, no canopy.

Also what might a used up KUHN GMD 66 disc mower be worth?? It cut 25 acres last year just fine, but it's leaking a little oil from the cutterbar and the oil fill plug is stripped on the bottom of the bar. Other than that and looking beat up, it runs fine. Any opinions would be very helpful.

Don't know about the tractor.

Beat up used disc mowers are not worth much. You say it's leaking oil from the cutterbar. Where? If it is from under the blade carrier, it probably means the oil seal arount the shaft is bad. Shake the cutterhead and see if it is loose. If very loose, it needs a bearing, if not just an oil seal. This is not a big problem on that mower because I'm reasonably sure the individual cutter heads can be removed easily and worked on. Find a Kuhn dealer and get directions and look at a parts breakdown. You said the oil filler plug is stripped. Possibly the hole could be retapped to a larger size. It needs to be fixed someway. If you get it I would drain the cutterbar oil and the gearbox oil and put in fresh. Check oil in gearbox. If it is low and the cutterbar is overfilled it could mean the gearbox has a bad seal and it is leaking oil into the cutterbar. Anyway, shine a strong light into the cutterbar and check the condition of the gears while someone is turning the cutterhead over by hand. If you think the gearbox is leaking that should be a big reduction in price.

Check for cracks in frame and cutterbar. If cracks in cutterbar walk away from it.

I don't think it's worth more than $1000 and its sounding like closer to $500, but I'm not there looking at it. It's best if you can get it hooked to a tractor and hear it run.

Don't overfill the cutterbar. Too much oil builds up pressure and blows seals.
