Valve clearence

Have a JD G. Replaced pistons with high compression pistons, new rings, valve job. Started it up, ran it for awhile (30 min).Started running rough. Checked valve clearence, had changed to about 1/4 in. reset them, fired it up, run it awile same thing. We did not get into cam or cam followers. Need some ideas. Thanks in advance

Cam is destroyed

I doubt the camshaft is destroyed. Double check all bolts holding the rocker arm. Set valve clearance again. Are all valves acting the same?

rocker arm bolts are tight as this is what we originaly thought also. all valves have been reset several times with same results. any other ideas?

A possibility you'll want to check is the cam bearings. I'd back off the rocker arm assy, pull the top cover and see if there's any play there. May not be it, but worth a look. Mike

Pulled top cover but found no side to side play and very little foward or reverse on camshaft.cam followers and or cam? Or both ?
