Cliff, the lifters should have a very slight crown on them as they and the cam are ground to cause a rotating action as the lobe travels across the lifter face to keep from damaging the cam as well as the lifter. You do not want a straight on full width contact. I do my own lifters but have equipment to do it. mEl
