valve stem replacement

Hi! I have a tire on my van that keeps going flat and I can see it is leaking around the valve stem. Can I just replace the valve stem or is there a tube inside?

Well, to replace the valve stem, you're going to have to break the bead on that side. So if there is a tube in there you will find out then.

Uh.. no.. he doesn't have to break the bead if it is a rubber valve stem.

the rubber ones can be pulled out, and a new one inserted with a pipe style insertion tool.
