Very Nice! I once drilled wheat with an 8' van brunt, I thought that took forever on a 180 Massey. Those old boys who broke the prairie and drilled with those old drills had some grit.

It has settings for wheat, oats, alfalfa, clover. It was used to plant between corn rows, pulled with one horse.

For you no tillers, think about this. That is the first type of no till drill as you could not go between the standing corn rows with a disk so had to put the wheat in with notill.

I'll bet the ground was plowed before the corn was planted therefore that would nullify your no-till theory. If your no-till theory is correct then any Van Brunt grain drill could be classified as no-till which I seriously doubt.

Tx Jim, think about it for a bit. The ground was plowed probably in march and then planted in april and after the cultivation in May would have layed till the end of October so there are several months there for the ground to get hard, If you took the corn off then you could work the field with a disk but not with the standing stalks. You would have about 5 months there and that is about the same time as between fall plowing and spring planting so you had to work the ground in the spring because the drills wopuld not go into the hard ground like that between the row drill would. And then if beans are put in, in the spring even if the ground is worked then to follow up with wheat in the fall if you do not have a no till drill then you have to work the ground before planting. And also think how hard the grounds gets bu the time you harvest the corn.
