Variations of 830

My dad used to have a Case 830. I'm not sure of the exact year or variation of it since it met it's maker in 84 or 85 and I was only 11-12 at the time when it went to the scrap yard sadly. I know it was a gasser, but I'm tryin to remember if it was a Case-O-Matic or Trip-L-Range or what other variation of models there were. I have pictures of it but nothing close enough to show the decals on the side panels, it has clam shell fenders. I can't ask my dad as he's been gone for 8 years coming in April. I may be able to ask the dealer if he remembers what model variation it was, but he's not very easy to talk to about Case stuff anymore as he was and still is pretty bitter about the merger and losing his affiliation with Case I'm only guessing anyway. As much as I'd like to have the life size version again it's not possible so I'm hoping to find a 1/16 scale or have one made.

8 speed gear drive, dry clutch or COM. Later ones were Comfort King, don't remember what year that was changed. I had an early 830 diesel COM, not Comfort King

Do you remember if you sat low or up high? If it had the clam shell fenders it probably was the older low profile not the comfort king and more than likely a case amtic. Cas matic would have had a lever up by the steering wheel for locking up the converter and a small pedal where the clutch would be on a gear drive.

Post pictures if you can. You can sometimes see if it's gas or diesel and recognize a case-o-matic from a dry clutch by the oil lines and clutch control.

Ok Wrangler All 7-1030 were 8 speed , If You recall clam fenders Google 1960-64 CASE 830,You should be able to remember vividly the tractor.Starting in 1965 , the Comfort King series began.The operator sits higher on those models than the earlier 830's Do You recall the air filter next to fuel tank on same side as muffler? That indicates a before Comfort King model. If You sat on this tractor, Do you recall 2 same size Gear shifts ? or one ? on the left floor rest, there should be a normal foot clutch pedal? that would be dry clutch 8 speed . B UT, if the foot rest had a flat treadplate pedal similar to a gas feed pedal in the clutch pedal area that would be a Case-O -matic Drive tractor. you can pay anywhere from 1000 - 10,000 depending on condition. Diesels in My opinion are with Double compared to gassers. There are lots of reasons for that. Back in the days when these tractors were built the gas was different. Lots of power! and They ran just fine. and started great in below zero weather, BUT the Diesels required hot batteries and Glow plug activationto get them to start . . . Good Luck

I found some pics of my dad's 830. The quality isn't the greatest as far as the pictures go, technology from the early 80's, but maybe someone can see something I can't in figuring out the model. I'd like to find a 1/16th scale of the tractor to add to my collection. I have an 830 diesel NF but would like to find a wide-front if they exist. I'm not sure of the model of loader in the first 2 pics, maybe it's a Westendorf? I wish I had more to go on, I'll have to chat with the old dealer and see if he might recall anything about it.

One thing for sure is, it's not a Comfort King. It's an earlier model or high tin.

I had an early 830 diesel COM, one thing I did notice was the air cleaner intake. On mine it was on the left side next to the fuel tank, but it was also diesel. Was it located near the front on a gas tractor?

Looks to me like a 1963 or early 1964 730 because of the light wheel centers and the high tin. I always thought 1964 was when the Comfort Kings came out and the heavy wheel was for the 830 and the light wheel was for the 730. The heavy wheel was optional for 730.

Im pretty sure its a high tin 1964 diesel 830. I see two batteries for the diesel. I was always told those rear wheel centers are for comfort kings. I have a set on my 730 gas ck and my brothers 830 diesel ck has them too.
Your pictures also have the 6 bolt front wheels. Im sure to help with the loader. The wide front has the angle iron wishbone. Comfort kings have a round tube wishbone.

Heres one like your picture. Dad got this at a sale several years ago. I think it has Oliver fenders but the more common early 730/830 rear wheels for spin-out rims. Put tires on it and drove it off the trailer. Its just like the first tractor I ever drove. I love those 830 diesel Case-o-matics.

Just looked closely at top older pictures with the man in the seat. I dont see any clutch pressure gauges on the side of the dash. So I would say its a straight stick and not a case-o-matic

It's been a long time obviously, I was about 12 or so. I do think there were 2 shift levers the same length. I know it's an 830 and pretty positive it was a gasser. I can't recall the air filter position and the pics are all I have to go on in that regard.

The loader in the tip pics you posted is a Paulson loader, same as on my DC.

As far as the wheel debate, heavy or light castings wete optional an 7-930 up til the end I believe. I have never seen a 1030 with light wheels, but that doesn't mean they weren't available for them either.

Thanks Jon. I know the point is moot now but I wish I had a better recollection/understanding of keeping track of the vintage Case implements. It didn't really come into play until helping the Nintemann family a couple years ago with their machinery and other treasures their dad had collected over the years. The one row picker being one of the things you bought from him. I wish I could've helped better and made sure none of the Case things went to scrap like the 600 combine and heads did. If I had known that was it's final fate I would've done something to save it.

Anyway I appreciate the assist with identifying the loader from the earlier pictures. I'll try and get some more info if possible from the guy who had the Case dealership at the time he worked on my dad's 830.
