Ventilator pump questions

Hi all. I am finishing up the restoration of my 1955 model 50. I have had everything apart and rebuilt it. I put in all of the fluids this weekend and drug the tractor around the yard to build up oil pressure before starting it. I did not have the tube installed that goes from the vent pump to the air intake. Once the tractor built oil pressure oil started coming out of the hole where the tube would go. I installed the tube and strapped it so it was above the fanshaft tube and continued pulling the tractor without any other issues. Tonight I pulled the vent pump back apart looking for anything obvious. I am thinking that the engine just wasn't rotating fast enough to cause the rollers to sling out, I am guessing that the crank was spinning 200-300 rpms when I stopped and installed the tube. Can any of you help me out please?

Thanks
Scott

I suspect these were designed to not move oil, only vapor. Is there an oil return from the roller case to the gov case? If they moved any appreciable amount of oil, either the air cleaner would soon overflow, or the interior of the carb would be well oiled. I can't remember which side of the air cleaner is connected to the vent tube. Signed The Novice

It looks as though oil is fed to the pump under pressure from the governor and returns back to the governor casing. The return holes are all open back to the governor. When I cleaned the rotor and rollers up last night I could turn the governor shaft fast enough on the bench to make the rollers work, when they were saturated with oil I don"t think they were slinging out. I have measured the rollers and the rotor gaps and everything is well within tolerance.
