vermeer 403G

Which parts?

The G and the F were similar, the G was a lighter economy version if I’m thinking right? Some parts might work on both?

Looking for the 3 spocket unit on the lower drive roller. Thde inside (rear) spocket of the of the 3 has the teeth pretty much chewed up. This spocket powers the bottom large roller.

Paul is right that the G and F series were pretty much identical. The F's had hydraulic over single spring tensioning and were more controllable, but needed a second hydraulic remote (three if you had the hydraulic tie option). The G's were identical in every way, but had dual spring tensioning. Both made nice, square, tight bales. One of the advantages of the F series was actually that you could back off the tension more, as the G's made bales so tight it was sometimes hard to drive a bale spear into. Still have a 504G as a backup at the Southern farm, and it's a dandy baler. Simple, open throat, way better than anything else that was on offer at the time. Anyhow: If you can find an F in a boneyard, the sprocket will be the same.

For the triple sprocket you're talking about, I'd just buy the right size A-plate sprockets, make a hub (or have one made at a machine shop) and have the A-plates bored accordingly. Weld the A-plate sprockets on at the right location/spacing and being sure to keep square. I've done just that for sprockets on a few pieces of equipment, including a 504G. Shouldn' t cost more than $200-$300 at most, and you can make sure the A-plate sprockets are hardened if you want (usually only a couple bucks more for versions with hardened teeth). Not that it really matters if they're hardened or not - at this age whatever you put on there will outlive the rest of the baler. Pretty sure they'd be the same as the 504 which are RC80, but easy enough to measure yours and confirm. Any industrial or bearing supply worth their salt should be able to order some, or if you post some pictures and sizes I can spec them and send links to where I'd order them from. If the other two sprockets on that triple arrangement are OK, you could even just buy a single A-plate sprocket and turn off just the bad one off the old hub, macbine a shoulder for the new one to slide on and against and weld it up. Would be very cheap/easy.

Interesting that you have a 403G. They're not too common. I was looking for one for the few dozen bales I sell from our Southern farm. I always thought the smaller 4x3 bale size would be perfect for a lot of the horse/hobby folks I sell to. Most of the time they don't seem to care about bale size, and pay the same for a 4x6 as a 4x4. Many would even prefer the smaller size. The Hesston 530's make a similarly small bale, but they're much lighter built and more economy balers.
