What's wrong with your 7030? I own one and no trouble so far. It appears to have the same cutterbar design as a TM 800 of which I have owned 2 before the 7030.

They appear to be a carbon copy of the Lely mowers with the same shaft driven cutterbar that we get here in here Europe and they are a fantastic mower. I ran one, a Lely 2.4 m mower /conditioner for about 10 years and apart from a warranty claim ( the dealer did not P.D.I. it properly, not the fault of the machine! ) all I ever did to that mower was change the blades and the oil. It never gave me a penny worth of trouble. Perhaps our friend has a 'faulty' one.

My Vermeer 7030 has 4 belts that drive it from the pto to the cutter bar gearbox very similar to a NH 617. It is hex shaft driven between the cutter heads unlike the NH gear bed driven cutter bar.

no major problems with my 7030 Vermeer mower..had it for 10 or 11 years now...just new belts and new cutter blades when worn out..

Same as the Lely, the cutterbar is driven by 4 belts. The 'PTO' type shaft on that one is the drive for the conditioning flails.

the end of the cutter bar that holds the mower together has askid plate on bottom approx 1" thick 2bolts to keep nut in place has broke &vermeer wants $600 for anew updated version trying to find reasonable priced used

Is that the piece the swathboard(if I have the term right) attaches to? I found on my 7030 that making sharp right turns bent that piece so I took the swathboard off and straightened the piece. I have left the board off. I would try to weld the broken piece back together if possible. Probably you would need to take the piece off to weld since you don't want to heat up the cutterhead. Let us know how you come out.
Carter and Carter machinery in Johnson City, TN might possibly have a used one for parts, but the 7030 is such a recent model I doubt if many have been junked.
