Hello,

This little snake was in front of the garage step. Curled like that would fit in the palm of my hand. Have no clue of the name. I think it is not venomous.
I put it in the woods,

Guido.

Florida Ringneck Snake. Completely harmless but never get's large enough to kill mice. You did right by relocating it. As some of you might know,a Cottonmouth bite my little dog last Sunday. I was 90% certain when it happened so I killed it. Closer examination and resultant condition of dog confirmed it to be Cottonmouth. If anyone should have a hard on for snakes, that should be me. I will continue letting harmless snakes go their way. It's a shame humans can't legally be held to the same standard.

There probably will be some day in ways we cannot imagine. For example, In Germany the have Forest Masters, no tree can can be cut without their permission. At least that is what I was told. Another would be the orchard owner who has trees destroyed by Buck deer raking the tree with their antlers, cannot kill them until the Resources officer verifies and gives you permission and how ever many tags he thinks you need. Or the highway improvement that was delayed years because of an "endangered box turtle" only to find out later they were prospering in other areas. So yes one day harmless snakes may have their own law. just sayin gobble

Grandpa would never kill a bull snake. That was a big mistake.
They multiplied so fast they nearly took over the farm. Open the
hood on the truck. You find a snake. Open the east door on the
building and two if not three snakes would fall to the ground.
Go in the shed to get a tool there would be a snake in the tool
box. We started killing them. Took three or four years to get
them under control. I measured each snake after it was dead.
They averaged 52 inches long. In the last ten months I've killed
two. One was 51 inches the other 55 inches long. I'm not a bit
sorry!

When I was a little kid, I remember finding a worm, a big, brown earth worm!

After playing with it for a few seconds, got to looking at it...

Wait a minute. Worms don't have eyes... And a mouth... SNAKE!

I threw that thing down real quick! lol

Since you're on the snake topic-- this week my sister in Arizona sent a video of what she and 2 of her daughters saw along a trail. Two not so little rattle snakes fighting for dominance. I don't know how to attach the video so I tried stopping the action and took these pictures of the monitor.

Snake infestation , Australian style ! Pythons , harmless unless big enough to strangle you , although a decent sized one can still deliver a nasty bacteria infested bite .

This one was in the bathroom at my farm , not so big but the second deadliest snake in our state .

Couldn't risk shooing it out , really didn't want to discharge the shotgun inside so the only alternative was a long handled shovel . A pity really as they are generally no trouble and have their own place in the world .

In regards to Germany, Europe had/has laws that if there is no law that you can do it, you can't. The forest is the kings forest and only wind blown limbs are allowed to be collected back in the day. Wind fall profits were what they were called. Everything was the kings or lords. Earl

Went to turn on the radio in the shop the other night and saw something that I didn't recognize off to the right side. As I took a harder look, I saw it slowly back away from me.

Turns out a small black snake was curled up in a cast iron grinding wheel shroud that was also on the shelf. I kept an eye on him, and he stayed there for a few hours before wandering off.
