Vibration/noise reduction

I have a SMD and have done a few things to it over the years to try to get rid of the vibration noises I get at different RPM. This winter, I applied some HushMat to the inside of the grill and hood. I am very pleased at the difference this made. I ran it a couple of hours today and didn't hear any of the usual metal vibration noises as the sides of the hood would dance. Just passing on this tip if anyone else is particular like me.lol

Does it rattle where the hood touches the tank or grill? or does the hood itself just vibrate?I have 4(or5) H;M;350/400...I dont have any vibrateing tin on any of them.Or maybe I am
just used to the noise. LOL I dont understand where your vibration could be comeing from.The only vibrateing/rattleing hood is my 1256. The little cover over the air cleaner rattles
at certain speeds.On all 4 of my 06/56 series tractors,the tin strap on the side of the three point control quadrant rattles/vibrates at certain speeds. I guess I am used to it.Maybe I should go and carefully listen closer....

You could see the hood itself vibrating at different RPM as you looked at the long sides. This tractor has/had all sorts of rattles depending on the RPM. I've been told it is the nature of the beast. When I think of a way to get rid of the rattles, I give it a try. I find it more enjoyable to use/less fatiguing with fewer rattles.

Most of the vibration is from the poor balancing of the engine when made and machined. Our MD shakes like a dog 1111 razor blades.
