Vicker Vane Pump

RWD

I have a 48 8n with a front loader. It has a Vicker Vane Pump on the front shaft. It was working great! Now it doesn't make fluid pressure. I would like to replace it. Anybody know where I can get a new pump???

i havn't seen your pump.. look at your plumbing and the relief will be quite evident.

I'd expect it to be int he pressure line between pump and valve if an external one.. or built into the valve bank itself.

Most relief valves are part of the valve body and will have an acorn nut over the setting of it. As for that pump it is likely to be a 8-10 GPM pump and Vickers as far as I know is no longer a company so you will need to buy another brands

First check the strainer on the suction line to make sure it is not obstructed. If the oil supply is not obstructed test the pump output pressure with a gauge installed directly in the pump output line.

If the pump needs to be replaced I would recommend an inexpensive gear pump with a standard SAE mounting flange. A CCW rotation, 10+ GPM, SAE 2 bolt gear pump can be had for less than 1/3 the cost of a new Vickers vane pump. I've sold dozens of the pump shown in this picture for use on N-series tractors and they work great. I'm assuming the old pump is mounted to the frame on your loader. If so you may need to fabricate or buy a mounting foot similar to the one in the picture to mount the pump on your loader. You may also need a new flange on your flexible shaft coupler to match the size of the shaft on the new pump.

I've done a lot of these so feel free to call me if you need some advice on how to run the pressure test on your old pump or a source for replacement parts.

Vickers is now a Division of Eaton and their line of vane pumps is very much alive and well. The Vickers V, V10, V20, VQ, and VMQ series are still manufactured and sold. Eaton also bought Cessna Hydraulics and they continue to manufacture and sell Cessna gear pumps as re-badged Eaton Series 26 pumps. Eaton also gobbled up and continues to manufacture and sell Char-Lynn branded hydraulic motors and controls....
