Vicon CM 165 Disc Mower

Located above mower at a dealer. Looks in reasonable good shape needing only blades right now. Has hydraulic arm.
Farmer bought this one and a larger one and is known to take good care of equipment. Used this one for backup and as a second mower. He traded in for a bigger size and newer model.
What years were this mower made?
What size hp needed?
Is $2400 a good price?

Not sure what years the were made, but the design has been around a while.

My Vicon CM216 (which is bigger than a CM 165) call for a minimum of 40hp, we usually run it on a 60hp tractor and that has lots for it.

Not sure how they are priced around you, i bought mine at an auction sale for a couple of hundred dollars, but it has had a very hard life, headstock and gearbox both welded back together... i took a chance on it, so far so good, but it is only a back up mower for me.

I mowed with CM165 with my MF65 diesel. 50 hp. Worked great. It was new then, 10 years ago. I'd think $750 would be max.

If anybody can find a disc or drum mower in field ready shape working for $750 let me know right now. I'll drive almost anywhere to pick it up.
I think the 5 1/2' disc mowers run close to $8000 new.
I guess I could get the CCM drum mower that is always talked about on this site delivered for around $3700.
Used equipment that is taken care of is hard to find here in the Ozarks. It has probably been parked outside since it was new. Just price a sickle bar mower at a dealer that looks like junk ($750 to $1200) and missing parts. Or a haybine on a dealers lot for $3500 (it will need rock guards and a new sickle not to mention the bent and broken parts.

I've used/owned a Duetz-Allis, Vicon, Roto, Vermeer, and a Kuhn. The Kuhn will out mow anything out there in my opinion, I gave $1800 for it at auction and had to replace all the skid plate off the bat for $43 each. But other than that I haven't had to do a thing to it. My father in law has a vicon and it does the job, but it's nothing to brag on. It's been my personal experience that the lower the price on a disc mower the more cauticious you should be about it. New is the best way to go but I know that's not always an option.
