A guy I went to high school with has a 500 cow dairy, and I'll help him make hay when he needs it. This was a field overlooking Goodyear lake and the Susquehanna, between Oneonta and Cooperstown NY. The
weather hasn't cooperative this year - this field was tedded three times and raked twice

I made hay last week. We had four good days but the ground was wet. I tedded twice the day after mowing, then raked most of it to keep the heavy dew off, next day I tedded it out two hours after the sun came onto it. then later on raked and baled some of it that was on dry ground. Then I raked five swaths along the south side out of the shady strip. Next day I tedded the heavier parts again then later raked and baled the rest of it. It is a struggle in this weather.

I could think of a whole lot worse weekend offices to be in!! Nice looking equipment and the view is beautiful.

I don't know how you folks make hay up there. I have a hard enough time down here getting the winter crop dry enough to bale and yes the tedder gets a good workout.

How is that Krone chain baler vs a JD belt? Bales aren't close enough to see the rolls very good.

It was ready to go late Friday - I baled for about an hour and the sky opened up, so we tedded it back out Saturday and again yesterday - it actually came out pretty good.
They've got the Krone chain baler and a John Deere and New Holland belt balers. The Krone seems to make the nicest bale, and it's about impossible to plug. The rotary rake makes a nice tall windrow but it'll sometimes hang up under the tractor, which makes a huge slug for the baler, which will make the tractor grunt but it doesn't plug
Central NY has some beautiful scenery - if it weren't for the brutal taxes, it would be just about perfect - well, there's the winters too...

nice pictures. I'm a little farther down the Susquehanna, on the Broome/Chenango Co line. The weather all summer has been hit and miss. I got my first 2 cuttings done, between rainy spells. Now I'm wondering how the ground will be for chopping corn.
