Vinegar in Radiator

Somewhere along the way I think I saw where Old recommended running Vinegar through the radiator to help clean it out. Anyone ever performed this feat? And whats the mixture of Vinegar to Water?

Yep I do it all the time. Just did it on a Allis C not long ago and it sure did help it a whole lot. Use 100% vinegar fill the system up and run it like you would with antifreeze in it. Last one I did I let it sit in the system for about a week, forgot I had filled it and could not get back to it as soon as I had hoped. Now if you where its getting cold you can not leave it in a long time like I did but that tractor no longer over heats like it had all summer

it works, but you may find new leaks--they were gonna leak soon anyway. My brother used it in a car that had sat 20 years with 40,000 original miles and a radiator plugged with scale, and developed radiator leaks soon after, but never overheated again.

i am a great believer in vinegar,and use it often for differant reasons.i dont know what your going to use it in.just dont let it sit to long in alum.or pot metal if you want to drink it only drink apple cider viniger

Tips I greatly appreciate. I plan to flush it out this weekend, then fill up with Antifreeze. 30 Degrees this morning in NW Florida! Thanks again....

Well on an Allis C it took just under 2 gals. Don't know what your working on but yes probably 2 or 3 gals.

Always happy to help when and if I can. I'm going to have to do the vinegar thing to a Isusu pick up I'm working on once I get the head back on and all. My dad gave it to me years ago when he blew a head gasket and I let it sit up till the other day. Engine was locked up but tranny fluid and a little thinking got it freed up and I have the parts on there way now. Should have it back on the road in a few days
