Does anyone know what's going on with this site? Is it still active somewhere else? I see that it's archived at archive.org, which means it may not last forever.

I would like to preserve the pages so if anyone has any information please let me know. I see Daniel Dibben is the originator...anyone know him?

Over the last few years VFTR has been mentioned periodically has having been taken down and no longer in service with no expectation of its return. The reason for it being taken down has never been mentioned to my knowledge. As your research found, it is in the web archives. Preservation has been accomplished by some by copying its pages. Indeed it has some great information. Perhaps someone knows why it was taken down.
