Voltage drop problem

I want to replace the resisters that are used to convert my 9n from 6 volt battery to 12 volt. I made this conversion years ago and it all worked well. Now I am trying to buy the resisters but the manufacturers don't put the voltage info in their ads. Any help will be appreciated!

Go to digikey.com and type in the part # of the resistor, or the specs you need. Digikey is the worlds largest electrical parts store.
A voltage drop is usually associated with dirty/and or loose connections.

What resistors are involved in your conversion? The original resistor and an additional ballast resistor are the common ones used for a conversion.
Some have added resistors to save changing 6-volt light bulbs to 12-volt ones.

From past discussions of N series front mount distributors getting 6 to 12 conversions on this site, my understanding is the original resistor/junction block (mounted on the backside of the dash) needs to be used with the new 12-volt square coils. A 6-volt coil would need the original resistor and a ballast resistor ahead of the 6-volt coil.

It sounds like he is looking for the "Infamous ballast resistor" AKA current limiting resistance.

From Dell when using a 6V coil on a 12V system.

Use two 1-ohm 10 watt resistors tied together in parallel and the original ballast resistor.

They don't give voltage information because that is not what you need to know, and it would vary by application.

using a bypass starting system is the only reason to utilize a 1.5 ohm 6V coil and a 1.5 ohm ballast . Otherwise use a 3.0ohm 12V coil

Go to your local auto parts house, pick up a ballast resistor for a 55 chevy, and you'll be good to go.
The coil doesn't care how many volts go to it. It only cares about current. so you need to limit the current by installing a low resistance (1-5 ohms) when swapping from 6v to 12v. Ohms law tells me that a 2ohm 10 watt resistor will do the job.

ok i forgot when i changed it. hooking my coil back up which side of the coil goes to the points? + or minus-?. it is a 6volt positive ground system

In your first post above you said you wanted to replace the resistors used convert your 9N from 6 to 12volts. now you say it is a 6 volt positive ground system. What do you actually have? Battery voltage of the system and the battery ground.
