Wagner wf3 cylinder disassembly

Just picked upa 600 Ford that needs replacing of the loader packings. The loader is a Wagner wf3. I don't readily see how to tear the cylinder apart. I'm guessing that I have to remove the wiper in order to see how it comes apart, but would rather get know for sure before I may accidentally ruin something else.
Thanks
Steven

There is a WF3 loader manual in the library at the website that has N Tractor and club in its name. That should help you

Single or double acting cylinders? In either case you unscrew the gland head (aka gland nut) from the barrel to take start taking them apart. The wiper is a part in the gland.

The sa cylinders are the lift cylinders and the DA is the bucket tilt. I've seen their diagram on there and it just doesn't help here. There isn't a collar on this ram that I see, the inside bore is smooth, and all that is visible to me is a wiper seal. The tilt ram at least I can understand. I'm adding some pictures but their not clear when showing the inside where the wiper seal is.

Interesting. There might be a snap ring under the wiper.

Is that a bleeder screw in the barrel at about 1 o'clock in the first picture? Or does it thread into something inside the barrel or just seal the hole in the barrel?

What do you have for a parts diagram for that cylinder? Please post a picture of it. The diagram in the WF3 manual is not that cylinder, that one has an exposed gland nut head that you can use a wrench or spanner on to remove it. Nothing like what you have. To me it looks like your loader may have had the lift cylinders replaced.

I'm not really sure where I found this one when I was searching the other day but this is the diagram I had found. I was thinking that #14 was just pulled out of the rod end a bit for illustration purposes. I'm wondering now if someone didn't do a farm fix on this sometime in the past and remove/replace it with something that was laying around the farm that "fit".

That is the drawing on the N tractor site for the WF3 lift cylinder. That is not the cylinder you have, unless the gland is broken off down inside the barrel. But no threads are visible inside the barrel that the gland would have threaded into.

I'm not sure, but I extended the rams a bit and the rods are pretty bad and the wiper seals have almost a 1/16" gap to the rod. I don't think these are worth the time to try and rebuild so I'm out looking for a rebuildable set of rams as close to the same size as I can get.

maybe the PO swapped cylinders at some point, i remember mine were original to the unit and had a big ole honkin glad nut-- etc-

in the end i went with replacement cylinders on my wf3 loader- (that was after blowing $$$ to get a hydro shop to take the originals apart and tell me the sad news)

went with some 2.5x30 ones for the side cylinders (retracted 38" extended 68")

Hey 13fx, I have exactly the same WF3 loader with the exact same hydraulic lift cylinders as you. There is no gland nut. I removed the oil seal ( National 40410S ) and then there is a coiled snap ring. I got it out, but now I am kinda stuck. After the coiled snap ring, it appears to have a steel "washer" that I cannot remove. I chained one end of the cylinder to a steel post and used a come-a-long to pull the rod. The rod is fully extended, but it does not pull out. I removed the "vent" screw on the side, but I am worried that I might damage something If I pull too hard. Did you ever get yours apart? I would like to see what the next parts are before I destroy them.
