I recently read on a blog that in changing an 8n front seal it said remove nut washer and front bearing then put nut on and yank to remove
seal.i did that and ruined the inner bearing it seperated the inner bearing in 3 pieces . I.e. It knocked it apart.beware.
 
Your probably right rouse the nut holding it on was so far in the cotter pin barely met the grooves in the nut,but getting the seal out wasn't bad, I
just wanted to warn that this may happen.
