Water Blasting

Hello Everyone, I have some questions and was wondering if anybody has had any experience using the sandblaster kits sold for use with pressure washers. I've always been intrigued by this idea as a way to clean up tractor chassis, rims, castings, etc. We have a 5 gpm 3000 psi cold pressure washer and I was wondering if buying a blaster attachment for it would be a good investment. Any ideas or experiences would be greatly appreciated, Thanks!

Browntree, I have one of those units hooked to my 4 gpm 4000 lb. washer. It works very well. I hardly use my dry pot blaster anymore. The main reason I bought it was to eliminate dust from dry blasting. Like all blasting it's a dirty job but you do eliminate the dust. It works on sheet metal as the water keeps the metal cool as it is cleaned. There doesn't seem to be any "pocking" of the metal either. I am very pleased with the process. The only thing I did differently was to shorten the wand on the sandblaster attachment because when you combine the length of the attachment with the length of the wand on your washer it is too long and gets a little unwieldy. Otherwise, no problems. Mike

I'd like to hear/read more about this. Where do you get the attachments? Who is the manufacturer? I guess I've never seen these work before.

Thanks...

I"m wondering about a few things, namely is a large tarp laid out to hold the sand, water and debris?
Would it have a border of perhaps 2X4 lumber to confine everything?
Can the sand be be retieved, dried, screened and used again?
Is there any problem with the high pressure water getting into sealed places as opposed to dry blasting?
What kind of protective gear does one need for the splashback?
Perhaps a picture of your setup would show how it's done

Thanks
