Water in differential section

I need some advice. 1944 JD A. Developed a leak in the rear end. Took the part off that has the PTO shaft through it. Creamy sludge started pouring out. I've drained it from the drain plug. How and what do I do to flush it out to get all that out of it?

Well they take a single weight old school gear oil that likes to absorb water. In fact I’ve gotten some out of a fresh pail before that water has separated out on the bottom. You can fill with diesel run around a bit and flush. Or like me just decide to change it a bit more often and not worry about it too much. It is pretty nasty white goop in the bottom
