Water in gearcase

When I purchased this 706 it had been setting outside for about 5 years and the cover on the high-low gear box had been removed and
just layed on top of where it went without being bolted back down. Long story short the gear box had around 5 or 6 gallon of water
in the bottom. I removed all 5 drain plugs in the bottom and drained it what I thought dry. Put 15 gallon of new oil in and started
tractor. Checked the dipstick and it is very milky. Going to let the tractor set and see if the water separates to the bottom where
I can drain it off again. It was suggested that I drain it dry and put Kerosene or diesel fuel in after draining and run it a
little bit to help clean the inside out. Is this a good thing to do? Can't figure where the extra water came from. The tractor
hadn't been run all the time it was parked and the oil wasn't mixed with water before I drained it the first time. Any ideas?

Ya have all Hyd steering and so the lines and ft. bolster are contaminated along with all kinds on nooks and crannies . You did not remove the Hyd Fliter sop there was over a gallon of nasty stuff there . If you puolled the plugs under the bull gears then you will have to refill them as they DO NOT FILL FROM THE MAIN CASE unles at one point in time someone cross drilled the main case but that is unlikely , You did not drain the PTO so ya still had nasty stuff there . The only way to get it 100% clean is strip it down to bare cases from the PTO to radiator cap , ya also have the oil cooler and lines that need cleaned out and trust me you will need more then 15 gallon . So for now if you used real Hy Tran the water will NOT settle out . But with losts of Hyd. filter changes it will clean up So get a half dozen filters and NEW gskts and start . Remove the lines going to the oil cooler and drain and blow them out open up the steering lines and blow them out best ya can then put it all back together and run it for say five hours and change the filter then go ten hours and change .
