Water neck thread size?

See Hdonly's reply above. I bought one from a site and one from NAPA. When I used a brass thread adaptor, it spaced the "too long" bulb so that it fit. I'm still not sure about the fit, but it does not leak with no pressure.

the gauge i got, the bulb is way to big and too long to fit in the water neck. i really would rather not try and drill the water neck out to accommodate the larger bulb size, i will get some pictures of what i have and post them tomorrow.
