water pump CC Case

Can't help much but, getting parts is the big issue. In one of my magazines there is an outfit that does old water pumps. Also post this down on the case board lots of help there.

This is just a wild guess, so don't hold me to it...

But some of the older pumps had a packing inside with a nut to tighten to stop the leak.

(Where we get the old term "water pump pliers" for what is now called "Channelocks".)

If there is a big nut on front behind the pulley, try snugging it slightly just until the leaks stops.

If there is looseness in the shaft it will need to be repaired beyond just tightening the packing.

If no packing, or there is play in the bearings/bushings you will either need to find a rebuilder to repair it, find a replacement pump, or find the parts to repair it.

Repairing one can be done, but it can be a tricky operation. Be careful not to damage anything.

Depending on the pump you have it could be sealed a couple of different ways. The one I did on a very early DC used a flanged brass bushing with a special washer sandwiched between the bushing and a machined flat surface on the impeller. When I did mine I could still get the washer, bushing and shaft from Case. Has not leaked a drop
