I recently acquired this WC SN 154500 which I think is a 1948 model. There is a rod that comes up to the querent by the steering wheel that connects to the outside of the magneto. The rod in the closed position touches a contact, pull the rod out and it draws it off the contact. I had it running with the rod touching the contact what is the purpose of this. It ran out of gas before I needed to manually shut it off. The only switch I have comes out of the amp meter box and I think it is for the lights. Thanks for any information in advance.
