oil preasure isues tractor has good oit presure when first started just at the low end of the normal section when at idle and toward hi end at full after a few mins of running it drops to nothing at idle and just under the normal line when at full tilt, around 160 temp on water guage any ideas on what may be causing this thanks ahead

classic worn out tractor syndrome! :)

bearing clearances are getting wide.

what oil weight ya running? move to a heavier grade.

could also drop the pan, and pull a cap and see what bearings you are running.. even if you go back in with new ones of the same size, you will very likely pick up a good few pounds of pressure. those engines don't make alot anyway.. nor do they need alot.

if running 10w30 oil go to 15w40.. if running 30w of 15w40, go to 20w50.

post back.

ps.. didn't just happen to change yer oil filter did ya and then notice the drop in pressure? if so what filter didja use?

have not changed oil lately, running allis chalmers filters nos, was rebuilt prolly has 20 hours or so on motor new bearings, at that time, not sure off the top of my head what oil im running prolly 10-30 cant seem to think of anything else

I would get a new filter. Wix 57011 is a real good one and also change the oil and use a 30W. For some reason these old A/C tractors seem to like a straight weight oil better them the muti types

When you say new bearings, was it on a reground shaft? If the shaft is worn you may have too much clearance. Were they checked with plasti-gage?

yeah spent hours with that stuff doing it, not regruond but mic came up with good numbers on the crank before i orderd the bearings not to say something couldnt have happend since then wasnt sure if there could be anything up with the fuel pump not real sure how the pump works

My speed patrol had no pressure when warm, I pulled the engine and the cam bearings were shot. Now I have pressure on the high side. Hope that helps. Greg
