WC winter project

I’m starting on a new project this winter. A 1937 unstyled WC. I got it from my neighbor many years ago and I’m finally getting the time to fix it up. He used to work at an Allis dealer when he was younger. The engine on the tractor is in good shape. I plan on painting the tractor and replacing all the seals and miscellaneous parts. I have most of the tractor tore apart into components. I’m starting to run into a few questions. I noticed on the rear wheels both sides are missing one wheel stud. I looked in the parts manual, and I’m thinking there must’ve been a dowel in one of the holes. Are the dowels still available? it looks like I’m gonna need a few parts. It might be better just to find a parts Tractor. Anybody out there know where I can find a parts tractor? The radiator works fine. It just doesn’t look very good. so I’m kinda looking for a better radiator and a different hood. The manifold puts the exhaust out on the side of the hood. The hood that is on there is not correct. I guess I’ll be having a few questions over the winter. Also are the big seals that go around the final Drive available? I guess they called the hub seal.

Yes, there was a dowel in one of the bolt holes. We had a 1936 WC purchased new in April of 1936. We had the mounted 2 row cultivator and would change the wheels around in May to allow for a wider tread spacing for the wider corn rows of that era. We would position the dowel on the bottom and then slide the wheel hub onto it with the wheel top tilted out toward us. That would essentially stabilize the wheel which could be then tilted in and onto the studs. Worked pretty good until we had the tires loaded with CaCl fluid. Then it turned into somewhat of a bear. I remember those days well. Soloed on that tractor when I was 6 and could do anything and everything with it by the time I was 8.

Yes, there is/ was a dowel in one hole. I have 5 of them setting around, 2 are runners. The dowel threads in, so could be made.

that makes me happy that it wasn’t a stripped out wheel stud, On both hubs. I’ve got two separate cultivators for this tractor. they are missing a few parts. I might try getting it working. I don’t think my seven-year-old grandson could touch the clutch pedal yet. I’ll have to break him in on the riding lawnmower first.

It doesn’t look like the dowel holes have threads in them or had threads in them. I’ll have to look it over a little better once I get it cleaned up.

Just some FYI, here is a link to the AGCO online parts catalog for the WC. AGCO AC WC parts catalog The Final Drive section is 107. It looks like the seals are available, but they are $85 each. There may be other sources for them by searching the number on the web.
Ouch! that kinda hurts the pocketbook. I suppose I’m lucky I can even find them anymore. I didn’t realize Ziegler sells AGCO parts. I see they opened a new store in Big Lake. It’s only about 4 miles from me. I sandblasted and primed the rims and frame yesterday. I kind of wanted to get that out-of-the-way before the snow starts flying. One of the front rims isn’t the best, but I think I got a line a better one. I think I can make this one work if I have to. Hopefully this week I can get back to the final drive and differential.
