WD 45 trans

Is it me or is the 45 trans with the helical gears weaker than the old WD trans. Ive torn down 3 45's and they all have excess wear. I took the shifter assy off my 49 and 50 WD's and there is very little wear. My 49 has been mowing and working the farm since it was new. One of the 45's has'nt done any work for the past 10 years.

I've never heard anyone say one was weaker than the other. What the tractor has done in the last 10 years says very little about it's first 10 years. If a guy was well off in 50 or 51 and bought a WD, then in 53 bought a WD45, which do you suppose did more work? The WD45 was just bigger enough that it might have gotten one more bottom on the plow, slightly bigger disc, etc. Never know.
