WD friction blocks

The hydraulic and throttle levers on my 49 WD constantly drift back to the posistion that they sat in for 15 years before I bought it. I've checked over the linkages and everything seems loose and free. No being to familar with the friction blocks could this the problem?

Never lube those friction blocks..

You can get NEW friction blocks..

The last time I looked they wanted 9 bucks for the friction blocks. Then noticed a tire I had used some of the side wall to stop leak in cattle water tank.
pulled off the friction block and with hack saw cut a new block from tire material and glued to the orginal.after it dried used a grinding stone to cut away the material until looked same as orginal. it works and looks normal.
