Hey guys I took the mag of my WD to put in points and am having a bad time getting in back on right, popping and misfiring.I've done this before on a couple of other tractors and never had any trouble til now,can someone give me a little instruction. Thanks in advance
Dave

You need to remove No1 sparkplug near the radiator and bring No1 piston to TDC on the compression stroke. Hold your thumb over the plug while someone cranks the engine over until you feel pressure against your thumb. Then drop a long plastic straw or rubber hose on top of the
piston and you watch the hose or straw rise as the engine is slowly cranked. When they quit rising the No1 piston should be at TDC.

Rotate the rotor on the mag until its aligned with the No1 plug tower cap and install the mag.
Looks to be around the 11 o'clock area. Hal

I'm glad we get it right once in awhile. Happy Tractoring. Hal
PS: Most engines are timed that way. The next time you pull the mag. Note where the rotor is pointing and and mark the case with a magic marker and make a little sketch on paper. THEN DON'T MOVE THE ENGINE.

I forgot to tell you when you want to reinstall the mag or a distributor makes no difference between the two is to rotate the rotor to the mark on the case or by your sketch and install it on the tractor. Then your mag or distributor will be in time. Hal
