WD years built

What years were the WD's built? Also, do the square frame plows work better than the round frame type? I had a WD with the round frame type, and you couldn't keep them where you wanted them. They were either too deep or up on top.

According to Terry Deans book they were built from 1948 to 1953. I cant answer about the plows but I hope this helps.

I`ve plowed with both and there is no difference that I can tell in that respect. It's all in the set up of the plow and the traction boost system.

I agree with John regarding the plows. Setup on these plows is absolutely critical. If your off slightly, it won't go in the ground. I don't know how to set them, I just know it is not easy. Perhaps you can pick up a manual on Ebay.

I've got a round beam WD Pickup Plow and it's the best plowing setup you could ask for. The bottom line is getting the plow set correctly. The real advantage of the square beam plow is that it will break a bolt and pivot away when you strike a hard object. The round beam doesn't have that feature and might wind up bending someting.
