WD45 Clutch Adjustment

I have a 56 WD45, the gears grind a little when i put it in any gear, does this mean the clutch is needing adjusted? i have never had the clutch slip or give any trouble.
If this is needing adjusted how do i go about that? Thanks

Not necessarily. My dad has a WD and a WD 45 both of which can be put in gear using only the hand clutch at any engine RPM and they don't grind a bit. My WD grinds.

45s and 17s have a slight gear grunt when you go from neutral to a gear - not a grinding or a clash but that little clunk characteristic to ACs.

This is more then a light "grunt" the gears grind and then i half to wait in neutral for a few seconds and then though it into gear.

The WD gears are NOT "Constant Mesh"..the WD-45 Gears are..

If you have 1" of Foot clutch travel, it should be OK..
It would be normal to have to wait a few seconds for the transmission to stop before putting it in gear..
Be even MORE careful about engaging the PTO..Always engage the transmission(in gear) before putting the PTO in gear..

Ron..

This could be caused by a dry pilot bearing or a bad throw out bearing. Find and fix the problem. Grinding into gear will only cost BIG $'s later when it won't stay in gear.
