WD45 Loader questions

We have a 55' WD45 with I believe a Henry loader and still has a mount for a backhoe. It is running off a pto powered hydro pump right now. It has a block off plate over the original pump but I do have a good pump off another tractor. Will the original pump power the loader? Too slow? I will be making a 3 point for the rear and would like to put a pto back on it to power implements.

Factory integral pump is a high pressure, low volume system, about 3200psi, maybe 7gpm- it will likely blow the loader cyl apart. You could put a pressure gauge on the pto pump to determine current pressure, but most are lower psi.

The cylinders don't have any kind of bypass in them? I wonder if a low profile hydro pump would fit on the pto shaft and still allow a drive shaft to be put on?

Bypass, for what? You mean a relief valve to protect them? Cyl don"t have internal ones, but you could add an external one. If they did, you would still be plagued by a low volume system by using the factory integral hyd pump, meaning the cyl would move verrrryyyy slowly. You could add a crankshaft mounted pump for a separate independent hyd system, whatever pressure you choose, according to the pump you add, which would free up the pto shaft for powering towed implements. Archives contain a number of ways to add a separate hyd system to a WD, giving you INDEPENDENT hyd, which is better than the factory system, which is only LIVE, via the hand clutch.

I made an adapter to drive the hydraulic pump off the belt pulley drive for my loader. Freed up the PTO shaft and everything else stayed the same. PK
