Line up of David Brown tractors including a rare and very expensive David Brown 50D. Not many were built and, during the 1980's and 90's they were selling at between 30,000.00 and 40,000.00 pounds English, very similar in price to what you would have paid for a Marshall MP6.

Thanks for doing what you do, I sure appreciate it. I do a puzzle every day.

I have a David Brown 990 and also have a question. Which one is the 50D?

Thanks again.

Its the tall one in the middle.
Late 50s with a 4.1L 6 cylinder parafin engine. A beast in the DB line for the time at 6000 lbs. 1260 production run. My guess is it was DBs competitor to Nuffield DM4. A track variant 50TD was produced.

Hopefully Majorman weighs in. I bet that 6 cyl can sing.

Here is Majorman and his neighbor discussing the possibilities.

They were all diesels DB as far as I knew. They were in a class of their own as they were more powerful than any other British tractor of their time but. like the MP6 did not find favour. Could have been the price but not sure. Back in the early 1990's I saw two on a lorry looking very sorry for themselves, hopefully going for restoration.
