Anyone know what the were designed or used for?

My first thought is weights for a weight machine at the gym.
Two vertical bars that allow the weights to be added or subtracted to suit the user.

4-1/2 wide and 16 long 35lb or so.

Only guessing, some kind of a gear puller or something to push a bearing with.

We have some , larger but same physical shape, they were counterweight for an elevator.
We use them for weights on pulling vehicles.

Weights similar to that were used in our local Civic center to counterweight the curtains.

Still not real sure what was the original use, I ended up with about a dozen of them 10-yrs ago or so. I hope to give these 2 some new life keeping my new extractor from walking. Made a base to bolt it to and slide the 2 35lb weights on. Have rubber pads under the base's 3 feet.
