Found a 1990 Lincoln 220V stick welder. $150, never plugged in! It does work, finally found a bargain on CL that didn't cost me money.

Is that an AC buzz box or an AC/DC welder? I've seen the AC buzz box cheaper than that but that seems to be a common asking price. The older ones have a copper windings according to the experts here. Not sure about yours. Have fun.

Hi bc,

You're right that some experts here say that the older Lincoln buzz boxes were made with copper windings in the transformer. When I asked that question of the experts at the Lincoln website, though, I was told that that model was never made with copper windings. My theory is that people were often misled by the metalic copper colored paint that the transformers were painted but I guess everyone is free to believe whatever that want to.

All the best, Stan

Thats insulating varnish. The transformer is dipped in varnish and baked in an oven.My 225 Lincoln cost 93 bucks delivered in 1965.
