Welding question

My electric garden chipper has a triangle shaped metal piece that spins just up above the main blades. The piece is used as a crusher for larger branches. The "spot weld" that joins the triangle at the top of the piece has separated. As the chipper is electrically powered would it be safe to weld the join back with an arc welder - maybe put the earth clamp right near the weld?

If your asking if it will hurt the electric motor to do the welding ni it will not hurt it but you would still want to have it unplugged so as not to cause a funny ground type problem which most likely would not happen any how but it is always safer to weld any thing electic with the power unhooked
