Kyle's jack method is starting to look very appealing. He says hes done it a buch of times, without any harm done. Has anyone had sucess with it?? Has anyone broke anything doing it??? I guess if the rods went out, i could part out the tractor and atleast get my $450 back out of it. I really dont want to tear er' down, if at all possible. How do i pull the oil pan??

Drain the oil, and remove the 15 or so little bolts holding it on. Might need to remove the front axle to get the pan all the way off.

Drain the oil and water.

Pull the head.

Let us know what you find.

It may be that you ultimately go with the crank/jack method, and that's perfectly fine, but it would be best to know first the severity of the problem.

Lanse Patience is a virtue. Following your post and the time you've had it, your not using your patience( although I do understand the enthusiasm to see progress). Theres no need to part the ol gal. Can you update me on your current progress and current problems? A tractor in the condition you recieved it is gonna take some time, money, and patience to get up and running, or even longer to make her look real nice. If you rush things your gonna run outa money and patience. Did you get a manual yet? Make a list of all it need, or make your self a priority list, and work(finish) on one thing at a time, then cross it off and start the next. Again , why dont you update us on your accomplishments and remaining challenges on your new baby, and remember they are only challenges!

Lanse it sounds like you need to buy a book on it first and read it then jump on it. If you have it on order wait for it to get there before you do much more or you could end up with a big piece of scrap iron.

I agree with what Dave says. I couldn't put it better. Patience is a virtue, and will save you time, parts, and money in the long run. You will feel much better with yourself, too, I suspect. By the way, do not neglect your school work.

Well, drain the antifeeze first or you make a big mess. Then just start taking nuts off. If engineers could figure out how to build it surely you can figure out how it comes apart.

Without knowing the history of a tractor with a stuck engine it is hard to know anything with out disassembling the engine. One stuck valve can stick an engine enough to slide the tires on a tractor that size while pulling it all over tarnation.
