In the photo section of the classified ads on this site a guy has used,empty 5 gal. buckets for sale. They,at one time, contained ford hydrualic oil.The metal ones,which might be from the 70's you can have for only $25 and the plastic ones made anywhere from the 80's till TODAY!!! are on sale for only $10!! "LADIES & GENTLEMEN, STEP RIGHT UP!,STEP RIGHT UP! GET 'EM WHILE YOU STILL CAN! GET 'EM WHIle you still ca000 oooo ,,,,,.....OMG!!!!
SERIOUSLY! FOLKS! RUN HOME AS FAST AS YOU CAN! GATHER UP THE WOMEN AND YOUNG ONES AND HEAD FOR THE HILLS!! WE'RE BEING OVERRUN BY IDIOTS!!!!
WOW!! Been around almost half a century now.

Might have some collector value? But if not, there IS a market for used 5 gallon pails. I've seen flea market vendors with stacks of used food grade 5 gallon pails and they sell every single one of them. Likewise at farm auctions with the empty 5 gallon oil and grease buckets. Even if the buckets are dirty and scroungy, every single one will sell. I will admit that $10 and $25 would most likely limit the marketability though.

I haven't seen any of those old steel cans a long time! Those bring back memories.

I went to get a hydraulic oil filter for a ford 7000 last year and the parts guy brought out an old dusty box with that old blue gears print. Inside was the old blue filter with yellow lettering. Now everything says "FIAT Group" on the boxes. I'm still having a hard time believing the evolution of Ford tractors.

Not really sure if your if your trying to make a funny or not. If you have never seen anyone pay good money for a 5 gal oil can with good advertizing on it. Well, you just need to get out more. He's right on the money for what he has. If you think I'm wrong, you can drop off all your empty 5 gal cans over here and I'll make sure they get properly disposed of. Make sure you include a couple of them new ones you bought today that say FORD TRACTOR HYDRAULIC OIL

The more I think about this post, the more I want to buy the old metal ones in his ad. I was just thinking of American Pickers when I read your reply. Frank pays $5-10 a piece for quart sized oil cans as new as the 1970's-80's. I saw him give $40 for a larger can of something once.

I wonder if George Bradish views this forum. He is building a Ford tractor museum in Latrobe, PA. It will be set up to look like a 1950's era Ford Tractor Dealership. I might have to fight him for the metal oil cans.

That George Bradish web page reminds me of a guy up the road from me. He has had a late 1950's pickup truck in his yard for several years, a rust reddish brown color with a "Texaco Star" logo on the doors. Recently I started seeing more and more Texaco memorabilia around his property, lighted signs and such. Well he just put it all together in the last several months and his 2 car garage behind his house now looks like a 1950's Texaco station, complete with a vintage gas pump and all the signs, plus his pickup truck sitting outside. He lights it all up at night.
