What a set back!!

Finally ready to buy the block for the '42 that I have been saving up for along with the engine rebuild stuff. Now two days ago the furnace in my home went out and it can't be fixed. Not unexpected because it's pretty old and we were wondering how much longer it was going to last. What a kick in the head!!!

get another opinion, i work for my family's havc company and most mainstream companies tell people that all the time they call us and we clean/fix it and they dont need a new heater. is it oil gas or what?

THE ONLY REASON TO REPLACE A FURNANCE IS A CRACKED HEAT EXCANGER .HAVE FIRE DEPT CHECK IT FOR CO IN THE HOUSE.OTHER THAN THAT IT IS JUST PARTS TO REPLACE.

I agree with others,unless the furnace is physically broken,it's a matter of adjusting,replacing parts,cleaning,etc---lha

That's the problem, cracks in the heat exchanger. The furnace sits close to our bdrm and the multifunction detector would go off when the heater ran for a while. my BIL is a contractor and I asked him to look for the problem. He said that it was time to replace it anyway cuz it was very inefficient.

Heat exchangers get cracks and holes in them. This is a dangerous condition as it can pump carbon monoxide in to the house.Smoke candles are used to test for leaks.
