what ac compressor is best?

What brand of ac compressor do y"all recommend for my 4230? I suspect a lot of you may say "Buy it at your JD dealer." No doubt they are good compressors, but surely there is one as good out there without the pricey price tag.
And please include the dealer's name where the compressor can be bought.

I use the Sanden compressor kit from Hy-Capacity. It comes with mounting brackets, spacers so you can use the original lines, and a combination hi/lo pressure switch. Never had any problems with them. Can be bought from any Hy-Capacity dealer (most independent shops and some brand name shops).

I installed one of those kits on one of my tractors this spring. So far so good. The dealer I bought it from said that was what they were using as a replacement compressor and had been having very good luck with them. I put one on my 4440 and installation was pretty simple. Mike

The problem with the Sanden kit ($425.32) is the pulley is too narrow. If you look closely the belt sticks up above the pulley 2-3 times higher than the original A6. Also you have to deal with other brackets, adapters, etc.
The best deal is the Denso A6 ($372.01) also from Hy-Cap which is a direct replacement for the Delco A6. The pulley is the same width as the original. I also use the tee and bithermal switch inline beneath the condenser.
Deere's compressor is rebuilt. New Delco A6 ($513.33) is also available thru Hy-Cap but is higher than Denso A6. Rebuilt Delcos are also available.

I did not run into the problem of belt standout. Granted, my belt is worn some but it isn't worn that much. I did not see a problem. My dealer seemed to think the Sanden kit was the better quality kit (and has a good warranty) so I went with their recommendation. Mike

How does the sanden conversion cool the cab? I replaced the A-6 compressor on my 4430 a couple of years ago with the sanden kit and it works alright but has never seemed like it got as cold as it should. Any advise would be appreciated.

Are you sure you have the correct amount of freon installed?

I always install a new belt with a new compressor. There is too much difference to suit me. I don't like the fit. I have a friend who has used the Sanden kit for years. He thinks they are alright but didn't notice the belt problem either. He also likes to make hoses running up the price even more.
