Farmall M248 had a post about AI and its inaccuracy.
While looking through Massey Land I came into a poster for WMAT&MA. I’m not trying to belittle those folks but as we prep for our September show in Minnesota I notice the inaccuracies on one of the posters.

This looks like a good show and a good group and they also put out a nice traditional looking poster with actual accurate photos. While the AI poster is eye catching it’s not a fair representation of actual equipment. Even the windmills are a mystery as Baker, Eclipse, and Aermotor all have 18 blades.

Again I’m not casting stones toward the WMAT&MA folks, but wonder if they’re a bit disappointed in the representation of the AI poster.
Our show has seen some misinformation generated by outside entities to represent or promote our show and it’s disheartening that some of this gets out. In our case if old information gets plugged into current listings it creates confusion and angst with the general public.

I've been using it more an more

Proves pretty useful to bounch ideas off but you need to remember what you are working with an not take it at 100% fact

I hear talk of AI in construction and because I’m not familiar with it I’m maybe a bit leary. In this field the designers struggle with the Revit and 3D programs they’re using currently. Too often it turns into design build. It used to be the plans and documents were accurate and reflected solid numbers.

In the case of the poster we would be challenged to find a traction engine with 4 water or expansion domes. Those domes look more like water ram exansion tank.not sure it that is supposed to be a gassifier or a pony motor off the left side. At least the grille of the red tractor looks like something.

What AI can do for you

If treated as a tool it has usefulness but yes as any tool it can be misused
"We" are using it in an R&D lab. Its design of a part which was 3D printed is significantly more effective then the human engineers design which was human machined amd 3D printed.

When you are carrying a couple hundred thousand gallons of fuel it will make a huge difference. I get to install the prototype 🤘 🤘

I have Google mail and recently AI has been practicing with its idea of my response to an incoming email. I posted about this earlier on here. I have been asking a lot of questions recently about numerous subjects and AI comes in with an answer first with no strings attached. On answers to questions that need to be the right answer, I will sometimes go to the subjects relevant sites to compare notes. So far so good.

I use Grok AI
The fuel cap on my tractor didn't fit right and leaked when the fuel sloshed around.
I went to Napa, O'Reilly's and a local independent and they couldn't find me a new cap.
Went to grok and asked what other motor vehicles used the same fuel cap as a 1970 Ford 4000.
Grok gave me the dimensions of the cap
said those from a 60s/70s F series pickup was the same.
Got one from Napa next day.
No more lost fuel.
Another time I asked Grok why women are so concerned with their hair and nails.
It gave me a long answer about social and historical mores.
I said that its reply was mostly PC hogwash and it was all about the foibles of females.
Grok replied that I was correct but had just phrased it differently.

Guess you never had age appropriate kids books when you were one huh? The pictures in those were drawn by artists and in most, the only resemblence to a real tractor was they the back tires were taller than the fronts.

I think the term AI gets thrown around very generally. I don’t pretend to understand how the systems work. My assumption is if it is feeding off a vetted closed data field the information it pulls is more accurate. If it is feeding off the internet like google it very convincingly mixes all information it finds and presents it. It is pretty good at finding sources you might have missed so you can vet them yourself.

Being the youngest of 8 the kids books that were passed down had crayon and pencil scribbled in them.
I understand the intent of impression illustration and then there is the copyright restrictions that have to be observed and maybe circumvented.
I’m saying our show strives for concise illustrations and information on our promotions because it eliminates confusion and takes away the critiquing on social media.
When your advertising sources puts a Massey Harris grille as centerpiece of an IH feature you might be compelled to ask for some corrections before it goes to print.

Been using it to write some code for me to program some boards an so far it has done a decent enough job for what im wanting

And it is capable of learning as it goes and grows. As it learns it will get better and better. I know some locals who are afraid of it but It should not be feared or looked on like it is satanic or anything. It is thousands of specialized compjters running specialized software, and that is all.

Ya, I don't know. Sounds like the problem is with the person or people in charge of ordering. For our club show shirts, they always pass around three or four choices with different generic tractors and different wording, A few years ago when we featured Oliver, one of them looked an awful lot like an Oliver 99, and told them that. I guess the majority didn't like the wording and we ended up with something that looked more like a Farmall on the Oliver show shirts. What are you gonna do? Majority rules.

And it would be better if it’s exhaust signature didn’t look like it had a blown head gasket.
I almost feel as though the image is capturing the moment when it is switching from LP run (large tank ahead of dash) to diesel start. That might explain the exhaust. If that is the case I’m not sure what the pony motor at the left fender is for. And maybe I’m misreading it and it is the hydraulic pump at the left fender.

Which then makes me ponder. Were there more gas start/ diesel switch than Massey Harris and IH?

Ok. Cleaned up this thread by deleting 2 whole pages.

Let's not get into the weeds on politics and A.I.

Enough to talk about just A.I.

I personally am not fond of A.I generated images. I think they come off cheesy, and I value real artists and art in general. My daughter wants to grow up to be an artist.

However A.I does have its place. Large calculations, examining large data sets, etc. A.I. stands out as a great tool there.

A.I. obviously has repercussions to the world, but it's not appropriate to go into them on this forum.

"There is no such thing as a free lunch."

Be well,

The biggest thing that I remember about farming and books, early on in my life, was a picture and explanation of "contour plowing", and I was a well-un-educated city boy at the time. Never forgot the picture and when I became a farmer, used the principle.
