what is a 320 john deere worth

Straight or slant steer? Standard or utility chassis?
Tractor condition? Area of the country? Any fenders, pto cover, grills etc missing? Tires? Serial # plate intact and readable?

If your tractor has side dressers and cultivators you are probably looking at a Standard (dont know that those were available on a utility). Value will depend on a few things as B+D Mentions. A slant steer tractor would hold more value to me than a straight steer (less made), Dual Touch O Matic/Hydraulic lift is a nice option, the cultivator equipment adds value for me as well. If you have a used hard, needing a lot of work tractor you could be in the $4-5000 range, Good average tractor in the $5-8000 range, Exceptional original maybee even into the $10000 range.
I dont know that I would pay those numbers myself, value is in the eye of the beholder. If you like the tractor and want a 320 that might give you a range based on what Ive seen folks ASK over the last 10 years. . . asking price is not necessarily what a tractor will sell for though.

Those are pretty much collector tractors. They're nice but aren't worth anywhere near what they cost if you plan on using it. JMO

A person could buy a Ford N that will do the same thing as a JD 320 and for a lot less money. As you know, there are a ton of Ford N's for sale out there.

320 has a live rockshaft, optional live scv, a real drawbar and decent brakes. Much slower reverse and 1st gear too.
320's are not noted for flipping over on top of the driver either.
A hands down all araound better tractor than an N series ford.
A post serial # 125,001 model 420/430 with a five speed and live pto would cost less than a collectible 320 and work better.

That"s a stretch...N aren"t known for plipping over...ya gotta go back to Fordsons for tha! I think you have never had the pleasure of using and N and therefroe are not qualified to speak on them. We own several johns, several Farmalls, and some fords and others...I do know for a fact that with weight equal on the same sled, a good N will go alot further than a 320.

The N's I see pulling are over reved and souped up with car engine parts. Of course they pulls well at 5-10MPH vs a M/40/320/440 at 1.6mph.
Come to think of it I do have a 3rd place ribbon in the 4500lb class showing a 40 can place in the top three against the Fords.
Being that the fords want to lift the front wheels vs a M/40/320/330 that keeps all four wheels on the ground. The Ford will pull farther when on two wheels.
I don't see any 3pt hitch links or scv connections on a transfer sled.
Around here such a small and old a small tractor usually isn't maxed out on draft loads.

N's flipping over backwards??? Don't think so, bucko and dear. If you want to talk aobut light front ends, lets talk about my420 trike and my 48 A when I use them with a 5' hog.

For up-to-date info. on flipping Fords, just google Fordson.

There is a reason the N series is so "affordable". I have a JD320. I work for a NH dealer, so I get stuck working on all those old POS N series tractors. I wouldn't trade a dozen N series tractors for my JD320. Now a 600/800 series tractor was OK. But not good enough to trade for my Deere.

How many have you flipped over? ...or driven? ...or used? Typically people that have strong opinions on something they REALLY know NOTHING about make that obvious when they do speak. I love my Deeres, love my IHs , ACs, and Fords too. I will tell you this, I am not speaking of 40s or 420s here: our 420T will pull like a mule if you A) get it heavy enough and B) can keep the front end anywhere near the ground (not speaking of the 8-12" weight transfer lift here, I mean dangerous lift.
I will throw this out to you: bring any stock (and be ready to tear it down to prove it) 320, I will show with our BONE stock 2N (no car parts, no hop ups) we will get the weights equal and pull for pink slips!
Then we can head to the field with some 2 bottom plows and see who plows better and faster and more efficiently, and yes I'm still talking the 2N with no draft control, won't even involve the 8N here.
I have favorite tractors for everything: My all around favorite to drive, look at and listen to is the '48 JD A, my favorite to use due to being so damn handy is the '53 Super C, which is also my favorite puller (div. one of course: stock) because the only time you know for sure that you don't have a very good chance of winning in every weight class from #3000-#4500 is if some one unloads an Ollie Super 66. I love plowing with afore mentioned A, our '50 B and our 70, gas. I especially like the sound when the Super H and Super M governors hit but those damn seats make me long for a JD under my fat azz if I spend too long on 'em.
Although I am not one to go hop on one of the Ns if one of the other's is available, the two tractors that just continue to amaze at what they will do (except holding back loads headed down hill which I assume a 320 isn't real great at either) are the Ns. I can horse a 5' hog around all day and have even had a 6' on 'em and the front ends are fine. The tractor was made for the 3pt so they DON'T get too light. Try that with the 3pt on a 320? I know when ya put a 5' hog on the 420 3pt ya better have enough weight up there that she steers too hard or you can read the John Deere logo on the nose from the seat. ...and that thing (800 A) that Deere called a 3pt hitch that everyone pays so much money for on the A with just a 5' hog will get her real light in the front.
My point is B and D that I bet you have never owned or spent much time on an N, because your opinions are not those of someone who has. I admit I haven't spent much time on a 320 (have you?) becuse most are Trailer Queens now, but I do have signigant experience with a 420 so I know I am somewhat based in reality.

...oh and there is no fixed drawbar on the 9n, still doesn't flip even when hooked to the sled on the cross draw!
