What is it?

That is a Centennial sign. This farm has been in the same family since 1883. There are signs for sesquicentennial farms (150 years)

On the second picture, nothing but TRUE GRIT Our ancestors made this country what it was by their sweat and determination, enduring hardship after hardship.....no way would I have wanted to be born in that era.

I salute you, my ancestors!

One story of many my grandfather told me is his dad bought a matched pair of horses and they up and died. He bought another pair to replace them. They died too. Being almost out of money he ended up with an old mare and a young unruly colt. To get the colt to calm down he would get him on a buggy and run him to the corner and back. Then he would listen to the old experienced mare and work.

In this pic from the left is my mother, grandfather, great grandfather, great grandmother, grandmother, and uncle. On their 50th anniversary. The cake says sweethearts forever
