well I checked the number today I guess its not a TO20 like we thought. It is a TE-81315 serial number. Engine cast number is Z120A-600 G9W.
any idea what we have we thought it was a 1949 not sure now.thanks for any help.

You are correct it is a 1949 Ferguson TE 20 built in Coventry, England.

Serial number TE 81315 , early 1949, Serial numbers
for that year ran from # 77773-to-#116461,the Z
prefix probably means it has a Continental engine
rather than an English Standard Motors engine,
typically the British engine number started with an
SE. Is there a letter after TE on the serial number plate under the steering wheel? this will tell you the type . A for petrol, F for diesel[ although not made in 49] D for tvo or petrol Kerosene,H for lamp oil.

We bought a TE20 new but I can not remember the
year. It had the Z120 contnental engine. A few years later we boght the TO30. I had the TO30 up untill Oct. 2002. Had it for a good 50 years and no major problems.

THe Z120 is a Contential engine and thus, no follow on letter.
